Qutub Minar – Timings, Entry Fees, History | Monuments in Delhi

Qutub Minar is a tower of victory. It is a 73m tall tower. It is located in New Delhi, India. Moreover, Qutub-ud-din-aibak built it in the year 1193.

Furthermore, Qutub Minar is a five distinct storey building each marked by a balcony. The first three storeys are made up of red sandstone while the other two top storeys are of marble and sandstone.

In addition, at the foot of the minar lies Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the first ever mosque to be built in India. Moreover, this mosque was built with the material obtained from demolishing 27 Hindu temples.

A 7m high iron pillar stands in the courtyard of this mosque. And it is believed that your wish may be fulfilled, if you encircle your hands while standing with you back to it.

Iltutmush and Alla–ud–din Khilji made some additions to the building in 1230.
